Environmental Learning Center

Next week I am helping to chaperone our entire 7th and 8th grade classes at our school when they travel to Northern Minnesota to attend a three day program at Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center. The program sounds very exciting - the kids will spend time rock climbing, doing a high ropes course, learning about environmental issues, taking a night hike, and participating in teamwork games. I love this sort of thing!! I had to laugh when I read the chaperone packet tonight - it said not to bring blow dryers or curling irons (gee, not even for the parents??). Also, the back of the packet had the word "whine" with a circle and slash through it, as in "no whining". It said it was for the students. Inside the packet it had another circle with a slash through it, but this time it said "wine" and was for the parents - i.e., no wine!! haha! I have a feeling that after spending three days with approximately seventy 12 and 13 year olds, I might want a glass of wine!

Wow! What an amazing experience for them to have. Kudos to you for volunteering to go-don't know if I would be strong enough to tough it out with that many 12-13 year-olds. You might need a couple of glasses of wine when you get back!

What lucky kids! Good Luck chaperoning. It does sound like lots of fun though and hopefully the kids will be worn out after all that excitement. :)
