How Hungry Is He?

We have a 2.5 year old labradoodle named Boomer (yes, that's his real name LOL, although he does have several nicknames - Booms, Boomerang, Boomie, etc).

So we can’t find Boomer’s food dish. We keep his food and water dishes in our laundry room. The laundry room is also “Boomer’s room” – he sleeps there at night and goes in there when we aren’t home. Even though he’s 2.5 years old, he still doesn’t have free reign in the house – and I doubt he ever will. I’d be afraid that we’d come home and he would have eaten the sofa!! So I mentioned earlier that Boomer is on a diet – we switched his food from a regular lamb and rice formula to a lite lamb and rice formula (same brand of food). I think we’re feeding him a little less quantity wise also. I feed him three times a day and he gobbles up the food immediately. Then he brings his aluminum dish out of the laundry room and rolls it around on the floor making a lot of noise. It’s as if he’s saying, “I’m still hungry – give me some more.” I heard my husband say to him one night last week, “You should know by now that we don’t give you any more food, so why do you keep bringing your dish out here??” Too funny! I think he’s a smart dog, but not that smart!

Two days ago, his dish went missing. I have no idea where it’s at. I thought 12 year old Buddy may have hidden it, because he does stuff like that every so often, but he said he didn’t. The dish isn’t in the usual places – the family room, the study, the kitchen. I even looked upstairs and outside! Did he get so hungry that he ATE his bowl? LOL. So the last two days I’ve just been putting his food on the floor in the laundry room, and that actually solved the problem – he still gobbles it right up, but now he doesn’t have a dish to carry around the house!

LOL and OMG! You have a doodle too! I have a goldendoodle named Zack. My husband is so in love with that dog that I swear he loves him more than me. LOL I'd love to know what he did with that dish. Seen any suspicious holes in the backyard?

That's the problem with dogs. They will keep eating till they get sick. Not all dogs but a good majority. If I'm not mistaken they are scavengers, however, you did switch to lite food. Is Boomer getting enough calories with less lite food? He just may still be hungry. Good luck with the plate though! :)
