The kids were actually really excited about the idea of having a weekly menu. I made a list and went to the grocery store on Monday. I have to say that it was SOOOO nice to have everything in the house that I needed for five complete meals. I really don't mind cooking - it's just deciding what to make that was the hardest thing for me. I even went so far as to look at the sports schedule and on the nights that Buddy has basketball, I made something simple or something that could be reheated, etc.
Last week was awesome - the kids didn't complain, I knew in advance what we were having, and we didn't eat out once!!
So we're on to week two - I looked at our menu this morning and made a list of items to get at the grocery store today. Interestingly, the list isn't even that big - we already have most of the items we need, so I won't be spending a ton of money at the store. And I even have a coupon for a free half gallon of ice cream that I got at the store last week!
I hope I can keep this up because it's really a stress reliever!

I try to do it this way too. Plan out a week's worth of meals and make easy things if we have activities. I just can't get a kick start lately. I've gotten sick of what we eat and need new ideas. It's 3:30 and I have NO idea what is on for tonight! I am too lazy to go to the store! LOL!
I have been thinking for awhile that I need to do this but never get around to it. I guess I should try to get this done to see if it helps me.

I really need to do the same; planning meals would save us so much money.

For me, it's so hard to follow through. Sometimes I just wake up and don't feel like cooking what's on my menu so the list goes down the drain. But when I did follow it through I felt less stressed and proud of myself. I really have to start planning our meals again.
I know so many people do this, but I can't seem to get started on it. I know it would save me time and money, and honestly, I hate the "what's for supper" question. Maybe your trying it out can be the push I need to at least try it for one week and see how it goes.
thanks
